While Black Friday is getting bigger and earlier every year, there is a certain appeal to snagging the savings online. Not only do you avoid the rush, the lines, the public; there isn't the pressure to buy since you're physically there and not near as great a chance for that dreaded buyer's remorse. Some items might be limited in stock, which can certainly motivate you to pull the digital trigger and checkout faster; but you can always shut it down, grab a slice of pie or leftover turkey sandwich, and have your feet propped up quicker than you can say "not it" to the dishes.

I find myself; at times, repeating the same words my mother used to say...
"I can't have nice things."
It's a ridiculous habit borne from frustration after the kids destroy everything you have and any material possession of which you have bestowed worth and sentimental value upon.. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, makeup, bedding. The most beautiful things I accumulated like a museum showcase in my early twenties - quickly went to junk when the kids could squirrel their way into everything.
I could write a book of the destruction wraught upon my prized possessions...books torn, jewelry disassembled, lipsticks used as paint, brand new chevron comforter re-designed by O.P.I.
And the sheets...when once I would buy only white I now wonder why they make the color at all. It's a blank canvas of possibilites for sneaky kids with messy handprints & dirty feet. Those rugrats love nothing more than to sneak food into our room or their big brothers'...and hide under the comforter with cartoons and crunchy crushable noms. I can't say how many times I've gone to crawl into bed after a long day and had to clean it first. It's embarassing to say, but it happens..and the worst is when they've taken a cup to bed and spilled something only to have completely ruined my precious bedding with stains. You'd be surprised at the spots that plain milk will leave behind.
My solution? DARK SHEETS! Dark everything where I can help it.
I recently had the opportunity to test these gorgeously smooth Olivia Branch Sheets and I was delighted to find a range of colors. A few days later; for the first time in 3 decades, I found myself with black sheets.
I have to say that my initial reaction was surprise. While they fit well and felt great - they didn't immediately make the room look like a dungeon! Who knew?
They have elastic all around the edges and for that reason I decided to put these on my son's bed. There have been times with sheets past when the so-called fitted sheet was pulled up to the wall after a rough night and the boys are sleeping on a bare mattress. This all around fit is fantastic for flipping and flopping kids that would otherwise tug the edges loose.
