Sharing is Caring

I've often thought about blogging. Why do people devote so much time to these posts? Who has the energy to type all their thoughts out here for the world to see? Maybe I'll never know about them, but I do know this.

Since I was in high school, and we were first allowed to browse on the "net", I would sit at the screen in Computer Class and wonder what to look up. The web seemed an endless supply of information and links, but what to do with all that?

So, I searched "free". Lots of crap came up, trials and information and whatnot. But I wondered, could there really be something you could get for nothing? I mean, this vast expanse could surely have that possibility, right? I came across a site called www. its-all-free. com. This was back in the day when those initial repetitive dubs were necessary, and I couldn't even tell you if it exists today but it was jackpot back then. A forum full of completely free samples, for filling out a simple form. I had to create an email address to receive their products, but who cared? Let them fill that inbox up! As long as they filled my mailbox too!  I bet over the years I've gotten a million emails, no exaggeration. I'm sitting on almost 50k now because I hadn't yet discovered Unroll.Me. I have a silly, girl crush email address that has haunted me for over a decade but at what cost? I felt like a genius, a pioneer of my time. Who knew so many companies were just giving their stuff away? I collected hygiene products, a certificate for a full size TreSemme product, a free carton of cigarettes, full size Olay eye cream, food, the possibilities were endless.

In all these discoveries, I tried to forward the information, or share the link with someone I thought would be interested. Was it spamming? Maybe. But surely they would see what a gift I had given! I was blessing them with my treasured finds. Maybe they, too, want drawers full of mini products that may one day come in handy on vacations and camping trips. Can you ever have enough razors?

In wondering for the last few years why people blog, I've come up with many plausible excuses. Not that any of those should or did impact why I ultimately chose to do it; but I can say, for me, I'm doing it to pay it forward. I see freebies, I find deals, I save money. Some people don't know how to do that, or don't have the time.  So even if you aren't interested, there's a good possibility that someone in your life goes gaga over getting this little treats in the mail and you can share with them. They can come find me though. I'm sure they don't want the spamming any more than my eye-rolling sisters. :)
